Play News

16th January, 2009

So...regular readers will know that I have been working on a play called Watershed for the last few months.  Well the good news is that it looks as though some if not all of the play will be performed as a rehearsed reading at Live Theatre in March 2009.

Four plays have been selected and on Thursday 5th March and Friday 6th March two will be read in full and excerpts from the other two will be read.

I have another draft to submit before I will find out whether I will get to hear my play in it's entirety or extracts.  It's kind of exciting.

So...do book tickets - I think they're only £6 and the other three writers are brilliant so it's bound to be a good evening anyway.

PLUS

I've been selected for a playwriting thingy called 4PLay.  With three other 'exciting new' writers...Lee Mattinson, Alison Carr and Lousie Taylor.

We've all been given the same four actors and asked to write a half hour play set in the same location.

My play is called Smoke and Mirrors and the others are:

When Skies are Grey - Alison Carr

The Tufty Club - Lee Mattinson

One Shot - Louise Taylor

They are all gonna be belters!

The plays have a little tour of the region starting in Alnwick at the Alnwick Playhouse on 8th - 10th April...it gets to Northern Stage on 23rd April and 25th April...where it is showing on it's own on the Thursday lunchtime and alongside the other four on the saturday.  Then on 29th April we're at Queens Hall Theatre in Hexham...then Darlington Arts Centre on 7th and 9th May. Then finishing back at The Customs House on 14th May. (Especially exciting as that's where my first ever play was shown)

So...covering all theatrical bases this Spring.  How brilliant is that!  Now I just have to get busy writing the things....but do come along if you can...

I like 2009 already.

Hope all is going as good for yous.
