Paper Fortunes #4

22nd August, 2011

I'm just back from being in London for a few days to see the opening two nights (previews) of my new play Paper Fortunes @ Canal Cafe Theatre.

Here are a few thoughts.

1. Cameron Harris and the cast -

Drew McKenzie,

Claire Porter,

Amy Newton

and Lily Philips

- are amazingly talented and wonderful people. Fact.

2. I'm dead proud of the play. Double Fact.

3.Because I live in the North of England, and therefore spend much of my day with pigeons and whippets down a disused coal mine, I haven't had time to 'bond' with the cast really.  Which means my brain thinks that they are the characters in the play. So..when I do talk to them. I'm pretty sure that I appear to be a slightly crazy person who can't differentiate between fact and fiction.

But hey. Does anyone really exist outside of our imaginations?

Deep huh.

4.There are people involved in the production of this play that I have never met. Alexandra Smith. Hamish MacDougall. I wish them well - if they exist. They sound a little made up don't they?

5.Also kudos Producer Sophie Sandham and Stage Manager Alison Saunders.

6. Tonight is press night. How scary is that.

Me? I'm off to a Scottish Island for the weekend. I'm gonna walk some hills and shake off some tail feathers.

Then next week back down to London for the last two nights. I'm really excited to see the play again...it's such fun.

I'm already sad that it's ending.

And it's only just begun...

Oh well.

Enjoy your Bank Holiday People.

Be happy
