Holding the Book
9th July, 2008
So, last Friday I went to Tonto Towers to collect my complimentary copies of my novel. I was kind of excited but nervous and jittery about it because it's been such a focus of my energies for such a long time and yet ultimately I know that in the scheme of things a novel is just a novel. Everything You Ever Wanted in spite of being like the best novel in the world ever is probably not going to change my life.
Not that my life needs to be changed particularly I guess, but that there's something sort of brilliant and rather useless about achieving your dream.
Like it's always that bit better in your imagination. I'm always that bit slimmer and slicker - and not the clumsy fool woman that I appear to have grown into...oh well.
Still. Maybe it's the weather. I should be shouting from the rooftops and full of glee. I should be fantasising about all the agents and publishers that will be courting me, but instead I feel kind of terrified.
Oh and Trashonista did a little piece on me. So maybes they'll be reviewing...that could be good.
And there is a mighty fine feature in this quarters' Mslexia all about How I Did It.
And New Writing North are working with Tonto to send loads of copies out free to Readers' Groups so that'll be good fun!
So - look it's all going well...and some of you who ordered through Tonto will have your copies already. I hope you enjoy them...

PS: I'm scared!!!!
